The composer of the famous James Bond Theme is Monty Norman. He had written and staged a musical called Belle or The Ballad of Doctor Crippen.
It was not very successful but the Bond producer Cubby Broccoli loved Norman's music. He asked Norman to write music for the first planned Bond movie Dr No. Initially Norman wasn't interested, until he found out that the deal included a trip to Jamaica.
Revisiting another musical he'd written and abandoned, A House For Mr Biswas, he rewrote a melody from one of the songs and created the famous tune we all know today as the James Bond Theme. |
